California Closets

California Closets is a closet company headquartered in Berkeley, California.[1] Its main products are centered around custom made storage solutions for any area within the home.

California Closets began business in 1978, was purchased by Williams-Sonoma in 1990, which in turn sold California Closets in 1994 returning it to an independent company status. In 1998 California Closets was acquired by The Franchise Company which is a subsidiary of FirstService Corporation.

The New York Times wrote that California Closets was one of the initial companies to "offer sleek storage for those doing without an architect".[2]

The price of the company's products range from $400 to $30,000. In 2005, California Closets had a revenue of $241 million, a 16 percent increase from the prior year.[3]

Products

California Closets invented the "hanging closet" (not attached to the floor) which is now an industry standard along side the traditional closet built for the ground up.
